Coldie

"Go over this one last time for me. Does the Scarlet King exist?"

The meeting chamber is large and expansive, but only holds three inside. This is a meeting of great importance, and the findings here will be reported directly to the Overseers. Sitting at the far end of the table, drowned underneath projector light sat Doctor Jacob Montauk, head of research into the Children of the Scarlet King, a group of increasingly dubious ontology. Turned away from him are Doctors Kahd and Bayar, representatives of the newly-bolstered Foundation Department of Consensus. Previously a small arm of the larger institution, now grappling with the effects of incredible change.

Montauk sighs.

"That's not a particularly-"

"I'm aware of the nuances and all. Just, straight answer."

"Yes."

"Alright. Good. What form does he take?"

"I have utterly no idea."

Kahd and Bayar look to one another with skepticism. The two only met recently but have a strange sense of kinship when dealing with their coworkers. Both had the "unluck" to be outside of a Foundation reality anchored site when the CK-Class Scenario happened, and thus had the fortune to remember the world as it was, not as it could have been without them. It's strange, to bond over something like this, but the past few days have seen them hopping around to Foundation site and facility, dealing with the litany of misconceptions Foundationers now hold.

"So… What evidence do we have he does exist?"

"The most salient and dangerous example of his existence is SCP-2013, a collection of six spears which have the potential to summon demons through portals. A truly nasty piece of work, although not the worst I've ever seen. The GOC had this one they called KTE-216-Black-Mendeschild and let me tell you—"

"Getting distracted."

"Focus on the spears."

They've heard about the girl before. She doesn't exist anymore — at least, not in a form that's relevant to this conversation. By all accounts, she probably is alive, and doing absolutely nothing of any real note. A good fate for her, one of the best possible.
