"Judeo-Christian"

Hi, I'm UraniumEmpireUraniumEmpire. Let's talk about Judaism, Christianity, and what people get wrong about them when writing for the wiki.

1: Introduction.

Full disclaimer: I'm Jewish. I've written articles incorporating elements of both Judaism and Christianity. Having grown up in the US, I have… strong opinions on Christianity's American strains. Nevertheless, I do not come from an academic background, and therefore speak only on the authority of myself and my interpretations.

There's quite a few articles on the wiki that deal with

2: What is Judaism, and what is Christianity?

Judaism

DISCLAIMER: So, ever heard the phrase "two Jews, three opinions?" Jews don't just say that to be funny: the Talmud, an important part of Rabbinical Judaism's religious canon, is a collection of arguments by various Jewish scholars of antiquity. That's not even getting into Karaite Judaism, which traditionally rejects the idea of supreme authority of the Talmud, and often emphasizes the responsibility of the individual to read and interpret the Torah.

Point is: there's a fuckton of ways to be Jewish.

Judaism is an ethnoreligion

Christianity

DISCLAIMER: In late 2011, it was estimated that approximately 32% of the global population was some manner of Christian.1 Needless to say: that's a lot of people, and the likelihood that they all agree on most aspects of faith is… unlikely.

3: "Judeo-Christian" as a trope

4: On the pigdog bastards who bulldozed Solomon's Temple, and speculation on their descendants' intentions for (Nicene) Christianity

5: "So what, I can't talk about Abrahamic religions?"
